Bookcrossing: as new shape of urban meeting

Thérèse REMY / 2A G.I.D.O. 12/02/2007

DUBLIN CORE DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Bookcrossing: as new shape of urban meeting
CREATOR: DUTEILLE, Cécile
SUBJECT: Bookcrossing , Urban studies, Everyday life, Modernity, Sociology, ICT, Internet.
DESCRIPTION: "What does it occur of our meetings and which forms they take in the context of a "radicalized modernity era" (Anthony Giddens) whose significant aspects are a generalized phenomenon of delocalization and an urbanization of the way of life? We will talk here about the significations of the practices in an urban world concerned with Internet. Between the NICT and metropolitan body, the home sphere and the outside life, the anonymity and the intimacy, the distance and the close relation, the "bookcrossing", a recent cultural activity, questions the contemporary urban mind, between deterritorialisation and reappropriation of the public sphere, by involving a book, others and "me" in the city."
