" Lately, the Jacksonville Public Library's reach has extended well past city limits. Staffer Kema DeSagrada recently recruited several colleagues to participate in BookCrossing.com, an online book lovers community.
What exactly is BookCrossing.com?
"The whole idea is to pass a book along and see how many people around the world read it and are impacted by it," said Becky Jones, senior teen librarian and BookCrossing.com member.
A hybrid of an online book club and a blog, BookCrossing.com invites members to share books with strangers around the world. The practice has gained such popularity that the term bookcrossing was added to the dictionary in August 2004. The Concise Oxford English Dictionary defines it as "the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise." "...
